Job Posting: Summer Student Positions at Momiji Health Care Society

Momiji Health Care Society is a non-profit organization providing services to senior
citizens of primarily Japanese-Canadian descent, in an effort to maximize their
independence, health, and quality of life. We are currently seeking four (4) summer
students for various departments at Momiji.

Start Date: By the end of June, start date is negotiable
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, typical work hours from 9:00am to 4:30pm, some
occasional work outside these hours may be required depending on the
position.

Reports to: Depends on your department of work
Hourly Rate: $14.00 an hour

Positions and Responsibilities:
Building Maintenance Assistant (term TBD)
– Assist with special event set up and clean up
– Completing minor repairs, landscaping, painting around Momiji Centre
– Administration work will include updating building maintenance files and filling out maintenance requests
Community Services Program Worker (2 positions, Term TBD)
– Planning and implementing special events for seniors
– Assisting with Elderly Persons Centre programming, including helping engage seniors with activities
– Participate in friendly visiting program with isolated seniors.
– Preference will be given to those students enrolled in university or college studies related to the position
Coordinated Care Planning Assistant (Term TBD)
– Coordination of meetings between seniors, family, staff and medical professionals.
– Other tasks as assigned within support services department, including care or service related tasks or administrative duties.
– Preference will be given to those students enrolled in university or college programs related to the position
General Duties
– Participate in other duties as directed
– Some light lifting or physical activity may be required
A successful candidate will possess the following strengths/skills:
– Preference will be given to a post-secondary student returning to school in September- Enthusiastic team player with good communication skills
– Strong organization and time management skills
– Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, are essential
– Computer skills with Microsoft Office are required to assist with tasks
– Knowledge and understanding of Japanese Canadian culture is an asset
