PDOT Call for Volunteers and Speakers

PDOT1

Do you remember your pre-departure orientation, when your mouth was dry from anxiety and your stomach was in knots from anticipation? Now do you remember the genki, confident, and experienced JETAA volunteers who made all that stress melt away?

Well, here’s your chance to be one of those JETAA senpais and help this year’s departing JETs prepare for the experience of a lifetime.

For the Pre-Departure Orientation Weekend on June 27/28, we are looking for energetic JETs to help out as both general volunteers and presenters on topics that include:

  • Traveling while Working on JET
  • Food in Japan
  • Transport & Car Ownership
  • Rural JET Experience
  • Office Relationships & Professionalism in the Workplace
  • Life Outside the Classroom
  • Representing Canada
  • Wellness, Coping, & Culture Shock

We are also looking for engaging speakers to present teaching seminars and help the new JETs get ready for the Japanese classroom.

Those volunteers interested in being speakers should include a list of the presentation topics they would be qualified to cover. General volunteers should detail which of the following responsibilities they would be able to help out with: tech support (audio/video), time keeping, logistical support (set up/take down), and food management.

All interested volunteers, please contact Clara Ho, Conference Coordinator, at conference@jetaatoronto.ca by Sunday, April 19th, 2015.

The JETAA conference team will review all submissions, and the Consulate General of Japan-Toronto will determine the final schedule and appointment of presenters.

This is the perfect opportunity to connect with new JETs and show them how cool JETAA kids are, so sign up!
