On February 18th an enthusiastic group of JET alumni and friends headed out to learn a very Canadian Sport: curling. We gathered at a local pub where we enjoyed good food and amazing company. With some people having a bit more courage (the liquid kind), we headed over to the curling club.

Book Launched!: Life After the B.O.E.

Tohoku Discussion Raises Awareness

On December 2nd, 2011, JETAA Toronto hosted a Speaker Series event at the Japan Foundation which focused around a panel of individuals that have experienced the disaster and its aftermath first hand.

JETAA was fortunate enough to have a total panel of 6 individuals, 2 of them joined us live via Skype from Japan.

Our 2011 Career And Re-entry Conference Report

As another year comes to a close, a new crop of JETs have returned to Toronto and were welcomed home with open arms at the JETAA Toronto 2011 Career and Re-entry Conference on November 12th. The Japan Foundation once again hosted one of the year’s most important events, and a diverse range of speakers helped ease the re-integration process for new returnees.

Twelve participants came out on that Saturday morning and met with JETAA Toronto members, networked, listened to interesting presentations and had a delicious bento that must have made a few of them natsukashii.

J-Walking In Review

JETAA’s inaugural J-Walking Tour took place on Sunday, September 25, against the backdrop of a perfectly sunny day that was made for strolling in the streets of Toronto. Our knowledgeable guide, James, led us on an animated tour of Toronto’s interesting sights and neighbourhoods, which included stops at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Annex and Kensington Market.

Your Dragon Boat Report

The JETAA Fighting Carps have just finished off another terrific season.

This year, the carps did an amazing job at their Oakville regatta earning a gold medal in the D category – a second year in a row!! Unfortunately, they did not fare so well at the Great White North competition. They showed team work and a lot of heart during the races and as always enjoyed a great day filled with friends, racing and amazing food.
